AGM Notice 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual General Meeting of the Society will be held at the Old Courtroom, Shakespeare Street, Nottingham Trent University, Nottingham on Tuesday 12th May 2026, 6pm. Refreshments will be available from 5:30pm with the AGM starting promptly at 6pm. The Agenda for the AGM is set about below.
The AGM is a free event to attend by all members of the Society and whilst it deals with formal matters it is also a celebration of the previous year of the Society. Canapes and refreshments will be served after the formalities of the AGM to encourage networking amongst members of the Society and to meet Council Members and sub-committee members.
One formal matter the Council of the Society wishes to inform members about is that, with effect from 1 April 2026, there will be an increase in the Society’s annual membership fees in accordance with article 27 of the Articles. As many of you may be aware, the Society has not increased membership fees since 2016. For the past ten years, we have worked hard to maintain our fee rates despite rising operational costs and the continued impact of standard inflation. We are proud to have sustained the same fee structure for such a long period; however, in order to ensure the Society remains financially resilient and able to continue delivering valued services, an adjustment has now become necessary.
From 1 April 2026, the annual subscription fees will be:
- £95.00 (0% VAT) per Partner / Director / Principal / LLP Member based on the Firm’s corporate membership
- £95.00 (0% VAT) per individual Solicitor (not covered by corporate membership),
- £60.00 (0% VAT) per Barrister and Academic Member
The represents a £10.00 increase for each category from £85.00 and £50.00 respectively.
We hope you can appreciate the reasons behind this change. The increase will support the Society’s ongoing work, enable us to maintain the quality of our services, and ensure we can continue representing and supporting our members effectively. We are happy to take questions at the AGM.
We look forward to meeting many of you at the event.

Marie Dancer
President 2025-2026
