Description

Immigration Senior Casework/Solicitor


Summary of the role


Caseworker or qualified Solicitor with responsibility for an active immigration caseload including; in-country and entry clearance Appendix FM Applications, Private Life Applications, Ancestry Visa Applications, Visitor Visa Applications, EEA, Nationality Applications and Judicial Reviews. In addition, there will be work advising detained clients on deportation and detention matters.

 

Essential

 

  1. Eligible to work full time in the UK.
  2. Ability to communicate fluently in English; both orally and in writing.
  3. Commitment to assisting those deserving of protection in the UK.
  4. Previous experience having sole conduct of an active immigration case load

 

Desirable

 

  1. Already accredited to level two (Senior Caseworker) of the Immigration & Asylum Accreditation scheme operated by the Law Society/or the willingness to become reaccredited/accredited.
  2. Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in any discipline in the UK or overseas.
  3. Experience of meeting both strict external deadlines and internal financial targets.
  4. Experience of working under a Legal Aid Agency contract.
  5. Experience of preparing appeals to the IAC, higher courts, judicial review applications and resisting removals.

  1. Pay Rate– negotiable depending on experience.
  2. Annual Leave – 26 days per annum (plus public holidays) rising by 1 day after every holiday year worked, to a maximum of 30 days
