It’s a new week, a new month and that means a new President's Blog for the month of February.
This is my 10th month as President and I can’t truly believe how quickly the year has gone. Especially now we are in 2024!
To start the year off with a bang, I attended the first social event of the year which was held at Code 34 and hosted by Weavers Wine Merchants the experts!
The event was sold out in minutes which is incredible, the venue was full but what more should I expect as after all it was a wine tasting evening!
The food was fantastic and the detailed explanation of wines and the pairings was second to none. So much so, myself & the firm indulged in the monthly wine delivery offer at the end of the night! The feedback has been very positive and I hope to be able to attend the next one.

Moving on to the plans for the rest of my reign as President, myself & Head of Operations Michelle are busy finalising plans for the upcoming Annual Awards dinner. This will be an incredible night and we have so much planned, it is definitely a night not to be missed and I can’t wait for everyone to see it!
I will be attending the menu tasting lunch next week to finalise the offerings on the night and I have some top secret plans which will be unveiled to all very soon! Make sure you have your tickets secured as you’ll be in for a surprise!
The next event I have planned is the Nottingham networking lunch which is being held at the Cosy Club on the 14th March, I believe you can sign up for your place now, so I look forward to seeing everyone there. The venue is always welcoming and a great place to have some food, a drink and catch up with fellow members of the Society.
On 20th March we have the John Pearce Quiz which always has a good turn out. In fact I believe all tables may have been reserved already with teams looking to claim the top prize, which includes hosting the entire quiz and setting the questions for 2025.
My first introduction to the quiz was on the future and past Presidents table in 2021, with Philip Turton (President at the time), Jason Waghorne (Past President) & Janine McKinney (Vice President). We came 2nd that year but last year unfortunately we slid down the leader board.
