Paragon Law Practice Director James Firman to Run London Marathon in Support of Nottinghamshire Law Society’s Chosen Charity

James Firman, Practice Director at Paragon Law, will be running the London Marathon this year in support of The Wolfpack Project, the chosen charity of the Nottinghamshire Law Society.

Over the past two decades at Paragon Law, James Firman’s journey has been defined by commitment, resilience, and an unwavering belief in personal and organisational growth. From joining the firm as a General Administration Apprentice to stepping into the pivotal role of Practice Director, James’ career is a testament to what can be achieved through dedication, continuous learning and a passion for excellence.

A Career Built from the Ground Up

James began his career at Paragon Law at the very foundation of the business. As a young apprentice, he immersed himself in understanding how a modern law firm operates. Through determination and a willingness to embrace every opportunity for development, he progressed through key financial and operational roles from Billing Assistant to Assistant Finance Manager to Income Manager, steadily building a comprehensive understanding of the firm’s inner workings.

Today, as Practice Director, James is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the firm, overseeing compliance, IT, HR and administration. His leadership ensures that Paragon Law continues to operate efficiently, ethically and with a forward-thinking mindset in an ever-evolving legal landscape.

Passion for Progression

James’ story is not simply one of promotion. It is one of purpose. His passion for learning has enabled him to understand the business from every angle. Having worked across multiple departments, he brings a unique empathy and insight to leadership, supporting both individual development and organisational strategy.

His selfless approach places the success of the firm and its people at the heart of every decision. Whether mentoring colleagues, driving operational improvements, or implementing new systems, James consistently demonstrates that leadership is about empowering others.

In recognition of his dedication and impact, James was named Practice Manager of the Year 2021 by the Nottinghamshire Law Society. This honour reflects both his professional excellence and his commitment to raising standards within the legal community.

Running Towards a Greater Purpose

As James marks over 20 years of growth and contribution at Paragon Law, he is now taking on a new challenge that extends beyond the office.

This year, James will be running the London Marathon in support of The Wolfpack Project. The Wolfpack Project is a Nottingham based charity focused on reducing loneliness and improving mental wellbeing by connecting people through supportive communities.

For James, this challenge reflects the same values that have defined his career. Resilience, perseverance and a commitment to supporting others. Just as he has worked tirelessly to strengthen the foundations of Paragon Law, he is now pushing his personal limits to help strengthen the community beyond it.

From Apprentice to Leader and Still Moving Forward

James Firman’s professional journey illustrates that success is not measured solely by titles, but by impact. From apprentice to Practice Director, award winning leader to marathon runner for charity, his story demonstrates the power of long-term dedication and purposeful growth.

As he prepares to cross the marathon finish line, it symbolises more than a personal achievement. It represents 20 years of progression, the strength of community, and the belief that growth, whether professional or personal, is a continuous journey.

Paragon Law is proud to celebrate James’ achievements and to support him as he runs in aid of The Wolfpack Project. His story serves as an inspiration to colleagues, clients and the wider legal profession. With passion, perseverance and purpose, anything is possible.
