For those small to mid-tier law firms without daily access to an in-house compliance team, the recent networking breakfast featuring a presentation by How Compliance, proved an engaging and enlightening event for the 20 or more attendees, who also had the opportunity to raise any questions during the discussion forum.
The presentation, delivered by Laurence Howland, lead consultant of How Compliance Ltd and the Director Risk and Compliance of Buckles Law, highlighted the advantages of moving away from a process-driven approach to risk management and taking a more holistic view of client and matter risk.
This new approach is designed to better protect the firm, whilst allowing the business to work more productively and effectively with good clients. How Compliance offers a range of specialist services to law firms, including Anti-Money Laundering & Counter-Financing of Terrorism, Bribery Act requirements, data protection and regulatory investigations.
Raising awareness of the support on offer to firms that lack the necessary in-house resources was one reason for the breakfast, but the long-term aim is to develop a community to discuss and manage all things compliance based.
These breakfast events will be hosted every quarter and if anyone would like to attend the next event, or has in issue to discuss in the meantime, please contact Laurence Howland contact@howcompliance.co.uk
