In October 2008 the Nottinghamshire Junior Lawyers Division (NJLD) was launched and replaced the Nottinghamshire Trainee Solicitors Group and Nottinghamshire Young Solicitors Group.
The Nottinghamshire Junior Lawyers Division (NJLD) represents and promotes the interests of junior lawyers in Nottinghamshire on the local Law Society Committee, at the National Junior Lawyers Division and throughout the local business community.
We aim to provide a social, networking and supportive role for all young lawyers in the region. The NJLD helps to promote our city as a vibrant legal centre, offering a good quality of life for local lawyers, and will help the city’s young lawyers to cross network to other firms and chambers by promoting their own brand values.
The committee is made up of 16 NJLD members and spans a broad cross section of the Nottinghamshire legal market from large commercial firms to smaller local firms and niche markets.
We work closely with Nottinghamshire Law Society and often negotiate discounted rates for their events for our members.
We organise a wide range of events for members throughout the year. These include
seminars which attract non-accredited CPD points on “How to Network” and “How to improve your CV”
the President’s Cup, an essay based competition
the Hammond Cup, an annual advocacy competition which is open to Trainees
the Judicial Shadowing Scheme, a chance to see what happens on the other side of the bench
networking events with the RICS Matrics (surveyors) and NCASS (accountants) to help market your Firm create stronger relationships and networking opportunities with other professionals during your career development
