Michelle's Message

Edition: July 2021

July is here and as I write this bulletin message, we are waiting to hear if all the restrictions will be lifted from July 19th – as a Society we want to plan so much for our members and social networking events are key to our diary.

The last month saw me compiling the Autumn training programme including a face-to-face seminar in October for the Private Client Committee on the Probate Service, as well as an online webinar workshop discussing Menopause – The Last Taboo in September.

In the last month, we have held constructive talks with The Law Society, looking at how we can work closely with Chancery Lane and providing a valuable portal for our members.  We would like to encourage you to regularly update your settings in the My LS, to ensure that you are regularly updated with information, press releases and seminar events.

We are now in the final stages of transferring the data from our old website to the new improved version, which we hope will go live in August.  It's looking very good and will be much more user friendly.

We are still shouting out for cricket players this summer.  Three cricket matches are scheduled beginning with the first challenge against the Old Nottinghamians’ Society on Thursday 22nd July and more importantly the ‘Battle of the A52’ in August where we take on Derby & District Law Society.

Full details can be found here – Cricket 2021 Summer Series

The fixture dates are as follows:

Wheelhouse Cup - Thursday 22nd July 2021

NLS Solicitors 'v' NLS Barristers - Wednesday 11th August 2021

'Battle of the A52' - NLS 'v' Derby & District Law Society - Thursday 19th August 2021

Don’t forget to come together for a great session of team building at the Clay Pigeon Shooting experience on Friday 10th September.  This is a fantastic opportunity to step outside the office, socialise and challenge colleagues to a clay pigeon shoot out!

The Nottingham Legal walk will take place on Thursday 23rd September, the society is working with the Access for Justice team and hope the walk will be well attended by the legal professionals of Nottingham.

Fingers crossed, we can plan a beer festival in September, we will be in touch when Boris says yes!

Have a great summer, back in September.

Best wishes,
