NJLD News April 2021

Edition: April 2021

Welcome to my latest bulletin as Chair of the NJLD for 2021. I hope you are all keeping safe and well.

Behind the scenes, despite the numerous changes to guidance and legislation as a result of Covid-19, our Committee remains committed to planning future events and activities for junior lawyers across the region.

Whilst we are unlikely to meet again in person until later in 2021, we do have events in the pipeline to allow the membership to meet virtually. With vaccines being rolled out across the country, the position with Covid-19 is slowly improving and we can’t wait to hold events in person, so bear with us!

Committee

I am delighted to inform you that Stuart Parris of Nelsons Solicitors has joined the 2021 committee as National Representative, replacing Alexandra Leeming. As a committee, we look forward to working with Stuart throughout 2021.

May I take this opportunity to thank Alexandra for all her hard work during 2020 – it is very much appreciated, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Save the Date

Is your qualification date fast approaching? Are wondering what the future holds? Then our virtual careers talk with Bygott Biggs is just the event for you.  This is scheduled to take place on 18 February 2021, however full details will follow shortly.

We would also point our members in the direction of BCL’s digital event, which is due to take place on 11 February 2021. Further details will be supplied in due course.

Both events are certain be both fun and informative. For more details and information on how to book your place please keep an eye on our Social Media platforms.

Membership

We are always looking for new members to boost the NJLD throughout the region. Sign up now so that you don't miss out on everything the NJLD has to offer during 2020/21.

Due to Covid-19, we have not been able to hold most of our planned social activities and events this year.  As a result, we will be rolling the Nottinghamshire Junior Lawyers Division membership forward to 2021.  If you are already a member, then your membership will automatically continue in 2021, free of charge.

Should you be interested in joining the NJLD or have any questions in respect of membership, please do not hesitate to contact our membership secretary, Jessica Jesson, via JessicaJesson@eversheds-sutherland.com.  Alternatively, please contact me on Andrew.Dennis@gateleylegal.com.

If your firm, chamber or company has placement students, Paralegals, Pupil Barristers, Trainees or newly qualified Solicitors / recently called Barristers (up to 5 years PQE/BPTC) then consider the benefits that the NJLD's educational, professional, social and sporting networks can offer them.  For further information please see the NJLD Webpage https://www.nottslawsoc.org/about-njld
