Criminal Law Training Package 2012

This year we are offering six 2 hour sessions (3 on each day) on the 28 May and the 23 July 2012. Each day will support two morning sessions and one in the afternoon so that busy practitioners may choose to do what best suits them. Each session will qualify for 2 hours CPD producing a total of 12 hours overall. The form below should be used to carefully make your choice and should be returned to the office together with your cheque for the appropriate amount.

In addition, there will be a Criminal Case Law and Costs Update on the 17th September 2012. This will be an all day course carrying 6 hours CPD and will be advertised separately and will have its own dedicated booking form. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS FORM for that day.

Module 5
11.30 am to 1.30 am Appeals 2 hours CPD £60 plus VAT (£72)

Can the Crown Court Judge increase the sentence?

How are we paid for advising on Appeals?
Not everything can be Appealed
Who can conduct the re-trial?
The circumstances in which the Magistrates Court is the Appellate Court.

2.30 pm to 4.30 pm Road Traffic Proceedings 2 hours CPD £60 PLUS vat (£72)

Failing to provide a specimen. Is it always a mandatory ban?
Disqualifications. Less than 56 days or more than 56 days. It can make a big difference
Defendants Cost Orders All change under the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Bill
Avoiding Penalty Points wherever possible
Driving /Attempting to Drive/in charge/road/public place. Getting to grips with the legal definitions
Special reasons or a Newton Hearing? Always go for a Newton
