The Equality Act 2010
Monday 7 March 2011 1.30 – 4.30 (3 hours CPD)
at Suite 2A The Hub 40 Friar Lane Nottingham
Course Tutor: Sian Williams. Flint Bishop, Derby
The Course will deal in detail with changes in discrimination legislation which came into effect on
1 October 2010 and in particular will address
• Changes to the basic framework of discrimination legislation
• A return to an old concept – Discrimination arising from disability
• Consequences of pre-employment health questions
• Issues concerning pay secrecy clauses
• Changes to Employment Tribunals powers
• Expansion of voluntary positive action
This half day course is aimed at those who deal with discrimination issues on behalf of clients as well as those responsible for management issues in your own firms. The whole issue of discrimination in the workplace has been reopened by the 2010 Act and it has created fundamentally important changes which every practitioner should know about and consider.
Sian Williams will also address changes which are still being considered and will introduce case studies on The Equality Act. She will present an update of discrimination case law under both the old legislation and the new, if any have been decided by the Tribunals at the date of the course.
