PARTY WALLS AND BOUNDARY DISPUTES - A SURVEYORS PERSPECTIVE

This seminar will discuss in detail the definitions of party walls and party structure, with
Illustrative photographs from actual cases. It will also discuss what the definition of an “excavation” is, and how it applies to developments near adjoining buildings.
The talk will also discuss boundary demarcation, and the difference between land registry plans and title plans. Illustrative photos will show what a red line at 1:1250 and 1:2500 actually looks like on the ground. The talk will also discuss the problems of scaffolding and oversailing tower cranes, and what to include in a licence to oversail.
Attendees will be able to understand what a party wall is and the problems faced by surveyors and their developer clients.
Presenter is Chris Mahony who is Chairman of the RICS Building Pathology Working Group, a member of the RICS Asbestos Working Group and is Director and Head of Building Consultancy at Church Lukas Ltd.
