CRIMINAL LAW UPDATE SPRING 2010. ANTHONY EDWARDS
We are delighted to advise that Tony Edwards will be again visiting Nottingham to provide his Criminal Law Spring update course.
The seminar will be held on THURSDAY 18TH MARCH 2010 - 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. CPD 6 hours at The Galleries of Justice, Shire Hall, High Pavement, Nottingham. The course will contain two hours of material relevant to the work of duty solicitors so meeting
their minimum training requirement.
This course is part of a rolling programme enabling criminal law solicitors to keep up todate with developments in the law. The material is revised and re-written every 6 months and covers all aspects of the criminal process from investigation to final review. It includes examination of all developments in legal aid and costs, criminal investigations, criminal law, procedure, evidence and sentencing. THIS EDITION COVERS DEVELOPMENT FROM OCTOBER 2009 ONWARDS.
Subjects covered include:
• Implementation of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 including changes in the law of murder; new defences; infanticide; assisting suicide.
• Prohibited images of children
• A nonymity of witnesses in investigations and proceedings.
• Implementation of the Sentencing Council
• Changes in youth justice
• Growing use of video-links
• Continuing changes to the Criminal Procedure Rules
• Sentencing guidelines including new guidelines on corporate manslaughter and deaths in health and safety prosecutions; burglary and handling.
• LSC funding developments in both police station and court work.
There will be plenty of occasions during the day for intervention and questions.
The price for the day will be £125 + vat 21.88 (146.88) for members and £150.0 + vat 26.25 (£176.25) for non members, this will include lunch and wine, together with morning and afternoon refreshments.
